Hyaluronic acid

Most dermal fillers such as Restylane®, Perlane® and, EmervelTM, and Juvederm™ including Juvederm Voluma and Volift consist of hyaluronic acid, a sugar gel that naturally occurs in the skin, and helps to maintain moisture and volume. Hyaluronic acid is what makes youthful skin look so plump and healthy.
Hyaluronic acid fillers can be used to treat small lines and folds or can be used to restore lost volume and to help contour the face, creating a smoother and more youthful look. Calcium Hydroxylapetite

Radiesse is another filler that is available at SkinfitMD. Made of calcium hydroxylapetite, this filler is ideal for restoring volume in the backs of the hands and for sculpting the jawline.

Poly-L-lactic Acid

Sculptra is another unique product offered at SkinfitMD. Offered at only the most advance facial rejuvenation centres, Sculptra uses Poly-L-lactic Acid which is a liquid that is injected into the skin to stimulate collagen growth. Unlike other fillers, an immediate effect is not appreciated. However, Sculptra injections can cause long lasting stimulation of collagen causing improvements in facial volume, contouring, and improvement of fine lines and wrinkles. Sculptra patients also notice an improvement in skin thickness, which also improves elasticity.

Some facial fillers, such as Juvederm VOLUMA™ and Juvederm VOLIFT, are used primarily to restore lost volume and to help contour the face, creating a smoother and more youthful look.

How do fillers work?

Once injected, hyaluronic acid-based fillers work with the body’s own hyaluronic acid and the water in your skin to restore lost volume and fill deep wrinkles.

Over time the injected hyaluronic acid is broken down through the body’s natural process to sugars and water that are metabolized and eliminated by the body.

What to expect?

After your consultation with the the dermatologist to identify treatment goals and to determine which product is appropriate, the next step will be to determine which type of anesthesia will be required to ensure your treatment is as comfortable as possible. This may include topical anesthetic cream or small injections of local anesthetic.

Using a very fine needle, the filler will be gently placed into the area requiring correction. A dermal filler treatment takes 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the area(s) being treated.

After your treatment, you may return immediately to your normal activities. Some patients may experience swelling and/or bruising for a few days after treatment.

The duration of dermal fillers depends on several factors, including where they are placed and how much product is used. Restylane and Perlane typically last about 8-12 months, but many patients find that their treatments are effective for even longer. Juvederm filler can last up to one year. Juvederm VOLUMA can last up to 18 months.
