Frequently Asked Questions
Tixel is a fractional thermomechanical device. By direct and safe transfer of heat into the skin, we can stimulate collagen growth and improve the texture and elasticity of the skin, which results is a more youthful skin appearance. Tixel is not a laser.
Tixel can be used in all skin types, although patients prone to tanning should ideally not be tanned before a treatment. All patients will need to protect their skin from sun exposure post procedure.
For treatments, you will come to the clinic without makeup. You will have your skin fully cleaned before the session. The treatments are relatively comfortable and can be done without anesthesia. Your anesthesia needs will be discussed with you during your consultation. A full face treatment takes between 20-30 minutes. The treated area will feel like a mild sunburn for about 4-6 hours. There will be redness and swelling for about 3-7 days post procedure. The skin will feel dry. You may see small dots from the treatment. The skin will exfoliate (peel) after about day 4 for another week or so. You will need to moisturize and use sun protection post treatment.
A series of Tixel treatments is usually required to get the maximal amount of benefit, although patients will report improvements after their first session. The amount of improvement typically increases for 3-6 months after the last session.
Tixel assisted medication delivery: Following a treatment with Tixel, specifically developed topical medications can be applied to enhance the effect of the treatment. Treatments for melasma and rosacea can be delivered in this manner.
The number of Tixel sessions required depends on your individual concerns, skin condition, and desired results. Typically, a series of 2- 4 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is recommended. The exact number of sessions may vary based on the energy levels used during each treatment.
Visible improvements from Tixel treatments can begin to appear within a few weeks, with continued enhancement as your skin naturally heals and regenerates over time.
